Description

Cape Blanco is an attractive, compact, easy-to-grow sedum plant. The leaves are glaucous blue-green with a flush of purple at the tips. The silver leaves stand out brilliantly. Cape Blanco is native to Oregon and it makes a beautiful ground cover. This sedum needs watering regularly, weekly or more in extreme heat. Yellow flowers bloom in early summer. This sedum species is an herbaceous plant. This means that it dies down in the winter. New growth comes back the next season.

Sedum Overview:

Sedum offer lots of variety in texture, color and growth habit. There are both ground cover, trailing varieties as well as varieties that grow in clumps. Like other succulents, sedum grow best with full sun, light watering and excellent drainage. They are an indispensable succulent plant that has a place in any garden or succulent project.

Great planted next to a grouping of the various blue sempervivums.

I just love this short sedum ground cover. It has such a pretty color especially when planted next to plants of other colors. The plants I received from Youngs Garden Shop are in great shape. I planted my Cape Blanco next to a purple colored sedum of about the same height. Later in the summer, I plan to transplant some into a flower pot to take into my home for the winter months. I live in Illinois and I have read that Cape Blanco suffers in winter because of the excess snow moisture that sits on the ground. I always like experimenting with my plants.
