Jovibarba heuffelii Overview:
Jovibarba, or Hens & Chicks grow in a fantastic clump/mat of colorful rosettes. Plants thrive in porous soil with full to part sun. Soil and light conditions can change the look of the varieties drastically. Once established, sempervivum are drought tolerant. As an added benefit, succulents are deer resistant. These plants can survive when grown indoors, but they look their best when grown outside. Sometimes called Beard of Jove, or Beard of Jupiter Jovibarba heuffelii are very similar to Sempervivum. The most visible differnce is how Jovibarba do not produce "chicks" on stolons. Instead the offspring of this plant are produced within the mother plant. To propagate it must be split with a knife.
