Grow bag planters are another great option for succulent plants. The hanging grow bags available at Young's Garden give you another great option for vertical planting. These vertical bags are easy to hang and use with succulents. Here are a few ideas of how they could be used around your house to decorate with succulents:
- On porch and patio posts
- Along the fence
- On the mailbox post
- Hanging from the deck
- Bordering a Door
- Hanging down from the balcony
Grow bags are easy to plant up with sempervivum, sedum and other succulent plants. You can have a great looking bag ready in minutes and as it grows and fills out it looks better and better.
- Fill the bag with potting soil. The grow bags, available at Youngs, hold 1.59 gallons of soil.
- Plant it. There are already 10 X's cut in the front of the bag for planting. if you want more, just cut a small slit in the bag.
- Secure the plants. Immediately after planting your succulents will not have a strong hold on the soil. To keep them from falling out when hanging you have 3 options: let the bags grow laying down for a few weeks, use something like floral wire to secure the plants for the first few weeks, or stuff the hole around the plant with sphagnum moss to hold it in place.
- Display your finished hanging planter.
Succulent plants in grow bags give you great color and texture. The vertical format lets you prominently display the great characteristics of your succulents
